This will be his first Polish concert in a long while. Bregovic, whose compositions are well known from moviese by director Emir Kusturica, is of Serbian and Croatian descent. His music reveals fascinations with Gypsy culture. While in Warsaw, he will play with Wedding and Funeral Band and a choir made up of singers from Bulgaria, Bosnia, Macedonia and Serbia. In the 1970s and '80s, Bregovic was the leader of a popular Yugoslavian band named Bijelo Dugme. His collaborations to date include with Kusturica, for whom he wrote original scores for Arizona Dream and Underground. He has also worked with director Patrice Chereau on his Queen Margot. Over the years, Bregovic has invited a number of well-known performers to sing his compositions, including Cesaria Evora, Iggy Pop, Johnny Depp and Ofra Haza. Bregovic's discography is full of Polish flavors. In the '90s, he recorded albums with Polish singers Kayah and Krzysztof Krawczyk. Songs from these albums remain Polish radio staples.
