The polish cuisine has it base in standard central europen food together with signifficant influences from lithuaninan and jewish cuisine.
To some extent russian food has also made its mark on polish cuisine. For more information consult a polish cook book. |

I find it very intertesting when someone says that Polish cousine inherited from Jewish cousine.
I have never seen any saphardic Jews claiming barszcz, pierogies, or sour craut to be their national food. To the contrary they do not feel any connections to Central european cousine at all. |

Hallo
Yes Jewish people claim many food that are theirs but they belong to other counties ex. borsch in suppermarkets is us, potato pancakers which are European, nalesniki which are popular in Poland but is you go back to it´s orgin they are French (Napoleon). If so why Jews Cousine claims so many Eropean dishes as their in the West? |

What inspired Polish cousine
I don´t know who is sending this email, but.. If you know world history, recepies came about what you had available at the time. If the area or times were good you had meat, fish etd. If the times were bad and area was poor you had soups and pasta. Polish cousine throu the history was influences by their history. If som country took over a country they would bring their cousine. Polish cooks books are use to be inspired by French Steak Diane, Poland on other Eropean countries. Just Like the US. :-o |

[font=Comic Sans Ms][size=2]There is a lot of really good food in Poland, but I wouldn't say that their donuts are the best.

Here is a bit about the history of the Polish cuisine:
Old Polish Cuisine - History of Food in Poland http://culture.polishsite.us/articles/art299.html Polish cuisine in the Western part of Poland where my family comes from was influenced by German cuisine. Polish cuisine on the East is influenced by Russian and Ukrainian and vice-versa. Polish influenced Jewish food also - here in the US I can find Polish products made in Manishewitch (This is a Jewish company) Jaga http://www.culture.polishsite.us -------------------- Jaga from Idaho
